New Perspectives on Sustainable Health: Contributions of One Health

“Did you know that disruption of natural ecosystems has been linked to most emerging infectious diseases in humans? This striking fact illustrates why we need integrated approaches that connect human, animal, and environmental health.
Join us for a dialogue on how One Health can help tackle complex global challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future.
This event is hosted by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) as part of the SHIP Dialogue Series: “New Perspectives on Sustainable Health.”
Three speakers will give a broad insight into different aspects of health, including:
Sharon Hill (Associate professor, Department of Plant Protection Biology on ecology/epidemiology of malaria mosquitoes),
Michael Bertram (Assistant Professor, Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies on ecological effects of pharmaceutics in the environment), and
Sofia Boqvist (Professor of Veterinary Public Health, Department of Animal Biosciences, Bacteriology, Virology, Food Safety and Veterinary Public Health on global food security and zoonotic risks).
Their presentations will be followed by an engaging panel discussion with partners from other fields and sectors. The panel consists of:
Stefan Swartling Peterson (Karolinska Institutet)
Anna Oudin (Umeå University and Lund University)
Josef Järhult (Uppsala University and One Health Sweden)
The SHIP dialogue series aims to identify areas of intersection between disciplines, reveal blind spots and disconnects, and build a shared language for sustainable health that can inspire both practical insights and future collaborations.
