The Swedish Global Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Network

The Swedish Global Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Network focuses on both preventing or treating mental health conditions and promoting psychosocial well-being, worldwide.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) demands a multi-sectorial approach that includes the involvement from partners in health, education, and social protection. The network focuses on MHPSS in humanitarian and fragile settings.

Recognizing the need for collaboration, the Swedish Global MHPSS Network was established in 2017 through the Swedish Institute for Global Health Transformation. Its purpose is to connect Swedish actors across sectors, enhance coordination, promote knowledge sharing, and strengthen synergies. The network unites civil society, academia, government institutions, practitioners, and private sector stakeholders to ensure collaboration and networking in order to achieve a more comprehensive approach to MHPSS in fragile settings.

Norway, Denmark, and Sweden each have national MHPSS networks, which together form the Nordic Network, established in 2022. Every two years, the Nordic Network organizes a conference to share current research and knowledge in the field of MHPSS. The next conference will be held on 3–5 June 2026.

In addition, there is a youth-focused initiative called the MHPSS Youth Alliance. This voluntary organization works in close collaboration with the Nordic MHPSS Network to amplify youth voices and ensure their perspectives shape the future of mental health and psychosocial support. The Alliance champions youth engagement, support partnerships, and promotes global knowledge exchange.

By sharing ideas and knowledge, the Swedish Global MHPSS Network aims to encourage cooperation among different sectors.
