SUMMARY:Planetary\, Global\, Public or One Health? In search of a common purpose in times of sustainability crisis.
DESCRIPTION:This seminar unpacks and interrogates the concepts of planetary health\, global health\, public health and one health. Each of these terms embeds assumptions about what kind of knowledge counts\, who defines “health\,” and which concerns are centered. We will explore the origins of these terms\, who mobilizes them\, their prominent narratives\, and their limitations as singular lenses to address the multiple interacting health and sustainability crises the world is facing. We will discuss how scholars from all disciplines\, practitioners\, communicators\, and policy makers\, including those outside the conventional ‘health’ sector\, may not find consensus\, but can find a common purpose. \nFollowing a talk\, the seminar will feature an audience discussion on the experiences with ‘sustainable health’ as a bridging concept across these often siloed concepts in health and sustainability. \nRead more about the event on UUniCORN’s website. \nThis seminar is part of the SHIP dialogue series New Perspectives on Sustainable Health\, which aims to identify areas of intersection between disciplines\, reveal blind spots and disconnects\, and build a shared language for sustainable health that can inspire both practical insights and future collaborations.
